HintonBurger in Ottawa

This was my first visit to Hintonburger and it will be my last. My boyfriend and I both got combo #1 which has a bacon cheese burger, fries and a drink. The combos pretty pricey coming in at $15.50 each, so you’d expect to have a pretty good burger. Sadly, we were told they didn’t have any fries so one of us had the sweet potato fries and the other got onion rings. This was disappointing because we were looking forward to sharing a poutine with some fresh cut fries... Both of our burgers came with buns that seemed like they were old. The bun ruined the burger for both of us. I ended up scraping out my burger and eating it with a fork and knife. The onion rings were nothing special and neither were the sweet potato fries. The best part of the meal was the dipping sauce that came with my sweet potato fries.

Great food quick service

Nothing to say that makes it a glowing experience. Fries were very nice, I liked that there was skin on the potatoes, still. Buns were nice. The restaurant is trying to provide sit down service and failing miserably. They ran out of food and milk at noon on July 2, did not plan well. The gravy was not hot enough to melt the cheese on the poutine. It took 34 minutes in line to pay our tab.

The resto has an overall comfy feel with nice, interesting decor but a bit chilly in the winter. The menu choices were rather limited; however, I was told they were having issues with a supplier. I ordered the Hintonburg combo with a side of gravy. It was good but, imo, not worth almost 20$. My main disappointment was the 40 minute wait for my takeout order because they forgot about my order but I was refunded fully which was really quite generous of them.

I got the veggie burger combo and had some mixed feelings. The fries were some of the best fries I ever had, and the drink was preserved cold even through the uber eats journey. However, the burger was extremely greasy and not a good mix of ingredients. That might be partly my fault for including pickled vegetables, but I found that the flavour was too sour with the oily bun and patty. The patty was falafel-inspired but far too crumbly. It fell apart as I ate it. Great fries but maybe skip out on the veggie burger if you don’t like extremely greasy foods.

It was clean when I walked into the restaurant. I was curious of this place as it's not too far from work and from some of the reviews I had read. Good and bad. Both my partner and I were greeted and served in a timely manner and received our food fresh and hot. The prices are comparable to any other burger joint, the only difference to me is that Hintonburger is worth the money. Would definitely go back to eat on another payday. One concern is that there wasn't a mat at the door to dry your boots so the floors could pose a potential hazard to customers.

It looks like it would be a great shop but the food was NOT hot it was barely warm. The cheese wouldn't even melt. The chili on the dog was from a can and no part of the chilli dog was hot. The fries were good but again not fresh. There were only two other people in the place and i expected a lot more. I would not recommend hintonburger to anyone!! Save your money, you get better food anywhere else.

Patty was really under seasoned which made the whole burger pretty tasteless. New location layout feels awkward in how you order. As others have said it's expensive for what you get. Wouldn't go back, not sure what's happened with this place since they used to be in the old KFC building.

I do not recommend this place. The burger was not worth 12$, our order was switched with someone else's and then served cold, not to mention it was so frigid in the restaurant, I reluctantly took off my mittens to eat. Never again. McDonald's would have been a more enjoyable eating experience and I wouldn't have had to deal with the guilt of eating a 12$ burger.

Unique deep fried chickpea veggie burger. Greasy fries and onion rings. Often a long wait for your order. Feels a bit run down inside.

Very tasty patty. Perfectly seasoned. Sweet potato fries are very nice. Cheerful staff. I was there on National Strawberry day and they went around the dining room offering everyone one of their delicious home made strawberry shakes for free! I will be back with my son next time he is back in town.

Food was overall average. The burger patty was well done and the toppings seemed fresh but overall it was hindered by an extremely disappointing bun. I can only describe it as a day old bun maybe. Fries were excellent. But perhaps the most bizarre thing about this place is the interior. Very unconventional and inconvenient ordering system. There's a small desk where you order. The menu is located above in tiny print so you can only read it when you get up to order. The staff then write your order down and run it to the kitchen in the back where the cooks then bring it out for you. On that note the staff did not look like they wanted to be there. No one was friendly or smiling or anything. Overall I probably won't be back.

This used to be one of the best places to get a burger in Ottawa but the quality has gone down hill over the years. You used to be able to justify the price for the quality but I was really disappointed tonight. 45 minute wait time after being told it would be 15-20 minutes and our fries were ridiculously undercooked. The floors were really filthy and covered in oil and a child slipped in it as well. The fat cat was over fried and unappetizing. All in all, very disappointed in what this place has become, I think it went downhill after they moved locations.

Honestly wanted to enjoy Hintonburger, I've been 3 times but each time has been mediocre at best. Often missing ingredients or products, prices are high, and the new space feels cavernous and empty especially in the evening. Burger itself was good, but the experience was not.

The taste of the burgers could be improved with better buns. No beers. The fries were really good.

Had a burger with bacon and cheese, a small fries and a milkshake and it cost $24. Prices are way too high for what you get. The food does taste good, just not $24 good.

Good location w/ lots of indoor/outdoor seating, unfortunate product. I LOVE BURGERS. So to rate an establishment 2/5 stars hurts, especially when it's a local eatery with a cool name and friendly staff. The 'Hintonburger' (their signature) was a huge disappointment. The 6 oz. (locally sourced, organic) patty was ok, as was the bacon, but that's where it stopped. The minuscule & blah bun wasn't fresh, nor unique in taste or texture. The fries were ok, but under-cooked for being fresh-cut(?) Complete it with a can of pop, and for $15 I'd rather eat elsewhere. To be utterly Canadian: sorry folks!!

It's thoroughly bizarre that I have not reviewed Hinton Burger yet, because I love it so much. On average we probably order from there once every two weeks. My favs are the Hinton Burger combo burger (be warned it's kinda huge, I often share the burger with husband) deep fried pickles, onion rings, and poutine too.My only criticism is that lately the fries for poutine aren't fresh cut anymore. I don't know if it's a final decision or if it's just because I'm often ordering delivery, and at busy times so maybe they run out. But it's turned their poutine from mindblowinginly phenomenal to just kind of good-ish.Either way it's still my fav burger in town. And I give them extra points that they don't just pass off stale fries when it's an Uber eats delivery. There are several other restaurants in vicinity that are amazing in person but pass off stale fried food when you order delivery. Hinton Burger is quality all the way. Keep up the good work guys :)
